AN UNLIKELY HERO
Enter Velkan Marius Aurelian™. Born as the son of poor olive farmers on the distant island of Helos, Velkan always dreamed of a life of grandeur. One fateful day, his sister Aurelia is sold into slavery due to bad debts. His older brother, Sage, joins the legions and vows to earn enough coin in order to purchase her freedom. Sadly, he dies on compaign in war-torn Maldek.
A PATH TO POWER
Bhutaki Marius, a fellow soldier and friend to Sage, travels to Helos to adopt Velkan into the Marii, an aristocratic family from the capital. Years later, Velkan also joins the legions with the intent of one day rising up the cursus honorum to attain the highest office in the land — the consulship. With that power, he seeks to change the very Republic which tore his family apart.
